How can nonprofit board members become better leaders?

A strong board is key for the success of any nonprofit, and becoming a strong board takes work. Many volunteer board members find there is a lot more to nonprofit board leadership than they realized.

To support the success of nonprofit organizations and their boards of directors, the Center for Nonprofit Leadership at Cal Lutheran University is presenting its 2018 Board Leadership Institute.

I'm honored to be serving as the lead faculty, working with these truly amazing, top experts in the nonprofit field: Debbie Jackson, Suzanne Elliott, Becca Merrell, Stephen Willmont, and Doug Green.

The six-month certificate program begins in January for nonprofit teams consisting of the chief executive, the board chair, and up to two other board members. The teams will participate in monthly interactive workshops on topics such as the board/CEO partnership, strategic planning, development and fundraising, financial oversight, and more. The program will support the teams in applying what they've learned with the rest of their board.

Registration is by application, and space is limited. The Institute is free to organizational members of the Center for Nonprofit Leadership, and $475 for non-members. Note: The early application deadline is December 1st.
